Stop torturing the world with wretched cover letters (please)

When I say that the vast majority of cover letters are terrible, what I mean is ... 80% or more are wretched, or worse.
Stop being redundant.
Stop the cliches.
Stop treating them like an afterthought.
Your competitors are (almost all) producing horrific, text-booky cover letters. So why not use this moment to your massive advantage?
